Child safety standards
Cirlo has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). These standards apply to everyone who uses the Cirlo app and to everything shared in it.
What is not allowed
- Any content that sexualises, exploits or endangers a child, including images, text and links.
- Grooming: trying to build a relationship with a child in order to abuse or exploit them.
- Sextortion, trafficking or any attempt to arrange contact with a child for sexual purposes.
- Sharing, requesting or pointing others to CSAM anywhere.
Breaking these rules gets the account removed, and we report it to the authorities as described below.
Who can use Cirlo
You must be at least 13 to use Cirlo. The app asks for a birth year before anyone can create an account, and our servers refuse to finish sign-up without one. Cirlo has no public feed and no way to browse or message strangers: people interact only with connections they already know.
How to report a concern
- In the app: open the person’s profile, tap Report and choose a reason, such as Safety concern, Underage or Inappropriate or sexual. Yearbook notes can be reported the same way. Reports are confidential: the person you report is never told who reported them.
- Block: blocking someone stops them reaching you in Cirlo straight away.
- By email: write to support@cirlo.app with “Child safety” in the subject line. Please don’t not attach or forward any abusive images. Describe what you saw and where.
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police or emergency number first.
How we respond
- A person reviews every child safety report as a priority.
- Content and accounts that break these standards are removed.
- We report apparent CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to the relevant regional authorities, as the law requires, and we cooperate with law enforcement.
- We comply with applicable child safety laws.
Child safety contact
Our designated contact for child safety, including questions from authorities, is support@cirlo.app.
