Report an intimate image

If a private or intimate picture or video of you was shared in Cirlo without your consent, including one that was made or changed by a computer to look like you, tell us and we will take it down. We remove it within 48 hours of receiving a valid request.

If you are in danger or someone is a child

If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number first. If the person in the image is under 18, do not send us the image. Tell us where it is and read our child safety standards. In Canada you can also report to Cybertip.ca.

How to ask us to take it down

  • In the app, the quickest way: open the picture, message or person, tap Report and choose Inappropriate or sexual or Inappropriate photo. In the note, write that it is an intimate image of you shared without your consent. The person you report is never told who reported them.
  • By email, if you cannot use the app or you are not a Cirlo user: write to support@cirlo.app with “Intimate image removal request” in the subject line. Please do not attach the image itself.

What we need from you

A valid request has these four things:

  1. Your name typed at the end of the message as your signature. You can also ask on behalf of someone who has authorized you to, and say so.
  2. Where the image is, so we can find it: the Group name or the username of the person who shared it, the date, and what it shows. A screenshot of the Cirlo screen with the image hidden or blurred is fine if it helps.
  3. A short statement that you believe in good faith that the image was shared without your consent, with anything that helps us see why (for example that you never agreed to it being shared).
  4. A way to reach you: an email address we can write back to.

Reports made in the app already tell us who you are and where the image is. Add the statement in the note.

What we do

  • We remove the image within 48 hours of receiving a valid request. If something is missing we write back straight away to ask for it, and the 48 hours start once we have it.
  • We make reasonable efforts to find and remove identical copies in Cirlo.
  • We can remove the account that shared it, and we report to the police where the law says we should.
  • We use what you send only to find and remove the image and to answer you. We do not tell the person who shared it who asked.
  • We write back to tell you when it is removed.

Please only use this page for an intimate image of you that was shared without your consent. A request you know is false can lead to action on your account.
